ALWAR: A 45-year-old teacher of a government school in Neemarana was arrested by the Mandana police in Alwar on Friday for allegedly outraging modesty of the girl students in the school.
Police had registered the case on Thursday and following a DySP rank probe, the teacher was arrested. On Saturday, he was sent to jail till January, 2, 2021. He was suspended by director, secondary school education, Rajasthan.
According to the police, the matter came to light when the block education officer was on an inspection to the said school (police wished not to name the school to ensure identity of students is not disclosed).
"During the inspection, many girls of the school complained that the teacher used to touch them inappropriately and was also pressurizing them to make physical relations else he will fail them in exam. Thereafter, authorities of the education department approached us with a compliant," said a senior officer of Alwar police.
Accused teacher Dev Prakash Yadav was working as a lecturer of political science. "Based on the complaint, a DySP rank officer started probe into the matter and on Friday evening the teacher was arrested under appropriate sections of IPC and Pocso Act for outraging the modesty of the girls," said an officer.
Circle officer Lokesh Meena who is investigating the case took the statements of the girls, villagers, parents and school staff. "Since some of the girls are from SC/ST category, a case under SC/ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act was also lodged against the teacher," Meena added.
The accused teacher was produced in a Pocso court in Alwar from where he was sent to jail.
